AACUS is an Innovative Naval Prototype (INP) effort funded by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) as part of a 5 year $98M effort to develop sensors and autonomous control technologies for VTOL platforms.The system will suppo'rt Navy and Marine Corps units under hostile conditions and environments. A tablet-like device will be developed under the program, intended for supervisory control of the AACUS aircraft by untrained ground troops.The two teams will participate in a fly-off demonstration in the fall of 2014, resulting in a downselect.
