Pole Star is offering maritime lsatM2M users a cable-free, cost-effective means of tracking their vessels, with its latest addition to the Marine Asset Tracker family, the MAT3.rnThe unit is battery-operated, using a power pack with a one-year lifespan. Profiling the unit at this year's Nor-Shipping exhibition in Oslo, Paul Morter, Pole Star head of commercial marine products, told Via Inmarsat: "You simply put inrnthe battery, bolt down the MAT3, flick the switch and you're ready to go." The MAT3, which measures 190mm in diameter × 110mm in height, and weighs 3.5kg, delivers a vessel position report every six hours via email, web interface or SMS, and can be pre-programmed to send alerts to designated personnel should the vessel deviate from its course.
