Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) is a great democratic advocate and a leading figure in contemporary-modern Chinese history. This paper narrates Sun Yat-sen's visits and activities in Vietnam, with an emphasis on his ideological influence as shown in many Vietnamese patriotic organizations and in the political viewpoints of two most renowned Vietnamese revolutionaries, namely Phan Boi Chdu and Ho Chi Minh. It also clarifies the influences and role of Sun Yat-sen and his Three Principles of the People in Vietnamese revolutionary progress in the first half of the 20th century.
