On 16 April 2008, the German Navy took the new corvette Braunschweig (helisign BS) into service. She is the first of five units in the K 130 class: F 260 Braunschweig, F 261 Magdeberg, F 262 Efurt, F 263 Oldenburg, and F 264 Ludwigshafen am Rhein. Our member Reinhard Kramer took these photos of the ceremony at Warnemiinde. The home of the 1. Kor-vettengeschwader is at Hohe Dune, on the east side of the river Warnow. Photograph (above) taken at the ceremony shows the handing over of the coat of arms of 1. Ko-rvettengeschwader by her commander, Fregattenkapitan Joachim Schmidt-Thomee (right), to Braunschweig's commander, Fregattenkapitan Axel Herbst, Photo (below) is of the Musikkorps Ostsee.
