The cumulative market size over the years 2007-2016 is estimated to be 139 ships, a decline of 28 percent from last year's total. This decline is primarily due to the completion of a number of high-cost programs and to significant delays in many of the long-term major warship construction programs. Some projects intended to replace ships that recently completed construction have been canceled entirely. The United States has been particularly affected by these delays, with numerous ship programs being stretched out or postponed.
