Average monthly prices for brand drugs increased much more quickly than generic drugs and other consumer products between January 2000 and January 2007, according to a report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO).rnGAO investigated the prices for a typical 30-day supply of 122 prescription drugs frequently used by Medicare and non-Medicare employees enrolled in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Federal Employee Program.
