摘要

Today in the United States there are more than 200 deaf pilots. Of those, a few have a Commercial certificate, four are instrument rated, and until october 14, 2018 just three held a seaplane rating. That's when Robert Rademacher, 54, deaf since birth, a private pilot, and a successful engineer and entrepreneur, became the fourth licensed deaf seaplane-rated pilot in the U.S. Currently he is the only actively flying deaf seaplane-rated pilot. Robert's story is really one of determination and not quitting when it would be easy to do so. He was initially inspired by his father, Darrell Rademacher. As a kid in the 1970s, Robert's passion for flight grew stronger each time he climbed into a Stinson or Citabria with his brother and dad and headed out to a fly-in breakfast. Unfortunately, Robert's dad no longer flies due to health reasons, but he takes great pride in his son's accomplishments.
