If you have not attended the Alaska Airmen's Association's Great Alaska Aviation Gathering in early May each year, you owe it to yourself to put this event on your bucket list. The show is great, and it takes place a few hundred yards from Anchorage's Lake Hood, the busiest seaplane venue in the world. This year the Seaplane Pilots Association doubled the size of its booth, which was staffed by SPA's Alaska Field Director John Pratt, Water Flying Editor Mark Twombly, and SPA Executive Director Steve McCaughey. Next to the SPA booth Jones Brothers & Co. Air and Seaplane Adventures from Tavares, Florida, made its first appearance at the show to offer multiengine seaplane training.
