In my 33 years of flying, I've met and interacted with thousands of pilots worldwide. The vast majority have been good and rewarding experiences, but nothing compares to a special group dear to my heart. That group is seaplane pilots. One reason is that they really excel when one of us develops problems with our flying machine. We are unique in the sense that we don't just fly to airports, where professional help in the form of FBOs or maintenance shops are readily available if a problem comes up. We fly to lakes, rivers, and yes, some of us even venture to tropical islands and the ensuing salt water "joys" that follow.
