The Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) marked the appearance at AirVenture of the Quest Kodiak on Aerocet amphibious floats with a ceremonial delivery and group blessing. The Kodiak is being leased from MAF for testing and certification of the 6650s, which is expected to take about a year. MAF plans to dispatch the Kodiak to Papua, Indonesia, where it already operates four Kodiaks. "The only amphibious airplane the people there have seen is a Cessna 206," commented MAF Director of Aviation David Rusk. "This Kodiak is so much bigger and more capable." Rusk described the MAF Kodiak as "a tool, not a jewel. It will get dirty carrying everything from animals to building supplies, generators to rice, books to bibles. There are no roads in the places we fly. Many of the people there have never seen a car or even sat on a chair."
