John Lundblad and his Glasair Sportsman on Claymar 2500 amphibious floats have had a busy summer together. In June and July the Sportsman was the subject of a hands-on display at three Dayton, Ohio, Air Camps for seventh-, eighth-, and ninth-grade students. Late in July Lundblad flew to the Oshkosh Seaplane Base, where the Sportsman was the subject of Claymar Float's display for AirVenture week. Following AirVenture Lundblad flew back to Clermont County Airport in Batavia, Ohio, to participate in the Youth Aviation Adventure (YAA) sponsored by Sporty's Pilot Shop. The YAA event was an opportunity for Boy Scouts to earn their Aviation Merit Badge. The Scouts moved through 10 stations learning about different areas of aviation. Lundblad's floatplane was in the first station the scouts visited, "which was appropriate," Lundblad observed. Lundblad later checked his Scout records and found that he received his Aviation Merit Badge 56 years ago.
