The Alberta branch just held its annual conference. The conference was a huge success. The conference theme was Land and Water: Reducing Our Impacts! CWRA Partnered with the Alberta Low Impact Development Society (ALIDP) to put on this conference. It was our most successful conference in some time. We had over 150 delegates, 30-Plus speakers and estimated profits in the order of $40,000. Based on the profit share mode, Alberta branch will be receiving 75 per cent of this at $31,000. We have been attempting to make our conferences more accessible, with student and NG0 rates, well below cost. We have been attracting increasing numbers of students and NGO delegates. Typically we try and have our registrations be almost cost neutral with expenses and rely on Sponsorship to generate our profits. This year sponsorship was much higher than anticipated and costs came in lower than budgeted, resulting in much higher than expected profit.
