摘要

There's a war still raging. Tempers and hostilities rise as two loose and con-stantly shifting coalitions vie for control of one of the most lucrative regions in the free market. Even as the jumbled clusters of power hold themselves shakily together, constant clashes from all sides are leaving helpless civilians to suffer the brunt of the fallout. It's been rough going in Iraq, too. The conflict I'm talking about is over what's going to be in - and what may get tossed out of - the new 2005 U. S. Department of Agriculture/ National Institutes for Health Dietary Guidelines for Healthy Americans. With half a trillion (yes, that's trillion, with a "t") dollars up for grabs in food and food product sales every year, it's a market almost as lucrative as the Middle East oil fields.
