A slowdown in like-for-like sales growth at Tesco's US division,nFresh & Easy, has once again placed the business in the spotlight.nFor the 2011/2012 financial year, revenues increased by 27.1% tonGBP638mn, while like-for-like sales grew by 12%. However, in thenfirst quarter of 2012/2013, like-for-like sales growth fell to 3.6%,nbelow the level required for the unit to become a viable contributornto earnings. We have long been sceptical on Fresh & Easy's prospects,nwith the firm likely to struggle to gain the footfall needed tonmake the business work. These latest figures fit with this analysis.
