Tubular light guides are novel technology means to achievenenergy savings in windowless interiors in the core of buildings andntheir design and evaluation posed a considerable challenge tonilluminating engineers due to task complexity. The Hollow Light GuidenInterior Illumination Method – HOLIGILM presented analyticalncalculations predetermining the illuminance distribution on the interiornworking plane as well as on the top of the interior tubular diffuser. Thisnprecise mathematically defined daylight transport taking into accountnboth sun and sky luminance, tube size as well as cupola and innerndiffuser transmittance is derived from basic relations and backwardnray-tracing procedures and expressed in complex formulae and andeveloped computer program HOLIGILM 4.2 for quick calculations ofnthe exact interior illuminance distribution. This program was used toncalculate interior illuminance and document with examples modelednindoor illuminance distribution considering standard daylight situationsnand real light propagation through hollow tube.
