NextWave Telecom, its new financial backer UBS Warburg, Verizon [VZ] Cingular, the Federal Communications Commission, Congress and the Supreme Court have quite the apocalyptic brouhaha going on over the licenses won by NextWave in the original C-block auction. Now suddenly popping up in the middle of the fray — a place he's surprisingly good at finding — is former Santa Monica, Calif., postman Vincent McBride. McBride has launched a campaign demanding the FCC return the deposits made by winning bidders in Auction No. 35, the January reauction composed primarily of NextWave's licenses.
