RC&D, Inc. of Pawtucket, RI has been subcontracted by Tetra Tech EC, Inc. to mechanically remove approximately 32,000 yd~3 of marine sediment impacted with Polychlorinated Biphenyls ( PCBs ), Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs ), and metals from around Pier 1, Pier 2 and south of the T-Wharf at NAVSTA Newport. The work also includes the removal of identified debris within the 20 identified dredge cells along with the placement of approximately 8,800 yd~3 of sand cap material beneath Pier 2. To perform the work, RC&D, Inc. has used the dredging and marine transportation support of Smith Marine, Inc., Marblehead, Massachusetts (MA), Riverside Marine Construction, Inc, Portsmouth, New Hampshire (NH), with survey support from Seaworks Group, Sawyer, Michigan (MI) and diving services from N.E. Diving Services, Middletown, Rhode Island (RI).
