On November 30, 2006, dredging and marine contractor J. E. McAmis, Inc. of Chico, California (CA) won the Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District contract W912PL-07-C-0005 on behalf of the County of Los Angeles and working with its Beaches and Harbors Dept. for its September 13, 2006 bid of US$2,398,750.00. On December 15, 2006, J.E. McAmis, Inc. received its notice to proceed for a contract work total of 90 days. The work involved dredging approx. 255,000 m~3 of clean sand at the north entrance to Marina del Rey Harbor, with McAmis' Megan-Renee dredging barge and its Komatsu PC3000 Aquadigger backhoe (BB). Dredged material is placed in 1,800 yd~3 dump scow Swan Island and is dumped at a near shore disposal area by Tug Norton Bay.
