"This very critical water supply lake-dredging project will be closely watched by many governmental agencies because of its huge magnitude and cost benefits. The city will now be able to dredge at the lowest possible cost and keep the lake maintained on a yearly basis," said Nick Burton, a former Decatur City Council member and long time lake supporter. "This is a forward-looking project that shows a commitment to the preservation of this lake so it will not someday fill in and become a mud flat."
