摘要

In this paper, we investigate the effects of deregulation in services on cross-border M&As. Indeed, services have been progressively opened to international competition since the 1980s in OECD countries, and this trend may be behind the sharp increase in cross-border M&As in services. On the one hand, our estimation results show that deregulation in services favours inward M&As in the service sector. On the other hand, our findings suggest that deregulation in services has an ambiguous impact on outward M&As and that the effect depends on the initial level of regulation.
