摘要

Although Whitehead's status in American universities remains marginal at best, his standing in much of the rest of the world has risen dramatically in the past decade. In Western Europe there is considerable interest in his thought, especially among philosophically inclined scientists and philosophers of science. In Eastern Europe there is an active philosophical society in Hungary, and there are new centers for Whiteheadian philosophy in Poland, Bulgaria, and Romania. There are well-established Whiteheadian societies in Australia, Japan, and South Korea. There is a new center in Congo. Most of all, there is widespread interest in China, where fourteen universities have established centers. The International Process Network (IPN) tries to keep contacts among these societies and centers and to help sponsor international meetings every two or three years. The Seventh International Whitehead Conference will be in Bangalore, India, in January 2009.
