It's a cloudy fall Sunday in the rollingsub-urb of Rockaway, New Jersey. Kids race Big Wheels down the street. Dutiful parents rake the leaves. A woman walks her two pet poodles. Meanwhile, deep inside the basement of a gray-shingled house down the block, a dozen guys holler in agony: "Help me, I've been shot!" "I can't shake him." "Lord, have mercy on my soul!" No, it's not the morbidly ironic opening of a David Lynch movie. It's just another LAN party: a makeshift computer-game Thunderdome for electronic weekend warriors.
