After a number of strong years, the RTG market in North America has slowed a bit. In fact, the annual World Cargo News survey of the RTG market published in October 2007 indicates that the number of RTGs expected to be delivered worldwide from late 2007 to a similar period in 2008 will be down from the last reporting period by up to 30% for some manufacturers. The question is, "Is this a pause in RTG purchasing, a breather of sorts, or are we seeing a downturn in interest in RTGs?"
