摘要

High interindividual variability in efa-virenz (EFV) sensitivity [1] has been suggested as a cause for difficulty establishing correct dosage in HIV therapy, which is necessary in reducing toxicity while maintaining efficacy [2,3]. Although genetic variants have been associated with patient sensitivities in some populations [4], additional work is needed to solidly elucidate the physiological basis of these sensitivities. The current study helps fulfill this need through pharmacoki-netic/pharmacogenetic modeling of EFV plasma concentrations within a clinical population [5].
