Shortly before the world's attention was drawn to the Persian Gulf with a resumption of U.S. and UK air strikes on Iraq, the international oil and gas community turned its attention to the region for an altogether more peaceful purpose. The 18th in the series of Gastech conferences was held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. It is the first time Gastech has been held at a venue in the Arab world, a fact which reflects the growing importance of the Middle East as a source of natural gas exports to worldwide markets.
