Some years back, Scripps Howard owned a newspaper in town called The Houston Press. One of my favorite features in the long-departed Press was a humor column written by Carl Victor Little. Like many journalist of his day, CVL was a crusty individual and his humor could have a bite, resulting in, at least in one case, government reform. By today's standards some of his column subjects would be considered "politically incorrect." For example, he wrote about a non-existent "unplanned parenthood association" that held Sunday meetings on the Sears parking lot. Yes, some Houstonians even inquired about meeting times.
