Gaz de France (GdF), a substantial operator in natural gas distribution in Mexico, recently acquired two natural gas transmission companies in the Yucatan peninsula and in the area of Bajio, along with two service and marketing companies, all Mexican subsidiaries of TransCanada Pipelines Ltd.Through this transaction, Gaz de France will own:· 67.5 percent of Energia Mayakan, which owns and operates a 700-km transmission pipe line on the Yucatan peninsula, brought on stream in October 1999. This pipe line is used primarily to supply gas to power stations
