This paper reports on the results of investigations into the nonlinear optical characteristics of chalcogenide films (As_2S_3, As_(20)S_(80), 2As_2S_3/As_2Se_3, 3As_2S_3/As_2Se_3). The nonlinear refractive indices and two-photon absorption coefficients for these films are measured using the Z-scan technique at wavelengths of a picosecond Nd:YAG laser (λ = 1064 and 532 nm). The optical limiting due to Kerr-type nonlinearities is analyzed.
