The environmental requirements for an alternative to cadmium led to consider Zinc-Nickel alloys as one of the valid-options for protection from corrosion of steel aircraft components.Various tests have been undertaken to progress into the evaluation of Zinc Nickel.Among the various possibilities of repair,it appeared attractive to study the plating of Zinc-Nickel over cadmium coatings.In some circumstances,such possibility could indeed accelerate the substitution of cadmium,by Zinc-Nickel.This paper will present the background of the evaluation of Zinc-Nickel and the latest results of the evaluation of the compatibility between cadmium and Zinc-Nickel deposits.Those developments have not been carried out with immersion in bath,but with a brush or a Dalistick tool.
