Observations show that many astrophysical sources can be treated with good accuracyas axisymmetric and stationary. These include both accreting neutron stars and black holes, axisymmetric stellar (solar) wind, jet outflows from young stellar objects, and ejection of particles from magnetospheres of rotating neutron stars. Such flows also apparently form in mangetospheres of supermassive black holes which are thought to be the 'central engine' in active galactic nuclei and quasar [1,2]. So, it is not surprising that ideal magnetohydrodynamics, which allows a sufficiently simple formalization of the problem, is actively applied when describing these flows.
