Single stishovite crystals have been grown by the hydrothermal method in the SiO_2-H_2O system under a pressure of 9-9.5 GPa in the 1170-770 K temperature interval. The method produced well-cut, transparent crystals of prismatic habit with the faces (110) and (111) and maximum dimensions of 500 * 500 * 2400 μm.
