In the last one year, the automobile industry in India passed through a lot of difficulty and had a negative growth with the four-wheeler segment declined by 5 to 6%, commercial vehicles-30% and the decline of two wheelers and three wheelers were at the same level as that of commercial vehicles. We hope that in the coming years the industry would start growing again. There are two good indicators for the industry - the success of auto show held recently in Delhi and the reduction of excise duties byseveral per cent in almost all classes of automobiles which would encourage people to start buying cars.
