Washington—The NYMEX January natural gas futures contract plunged as much as 7.9 cents overnight Wednesday, but recovered somewhat to trade at $3.211/MMBtu, down 6.8 cents from Tuesday's $3.279/MMBtu settlement, as of 8:56 a.m. EST (1356 GMT). The contract fell overnight to a new two-year low "as traders moved to lock in profits," said TFS Energy Futures.
