The Department of Transportation on Sept.21 exempted a distributor of gas cylinders from hazardous material rules to assist in Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.Under DOT rules,steel cylinders must undergo hydrostatic testing every 10 years,and aluminum cylinders must undergo hydrostatic testing every five years.
