SEATTLE-A rule proposed by the Washington Department of Agriculture that would require pesticide applicators to notify schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities before applying certain pesticides is opposed by some agricultural interests but supported generally by the institutions, according to an agency official. The reaction to the proposal is so diverse that the agency may not adopt the rule as currently written, according to Ann Wick, manager of program development in the department's pesticide management division.
