While at the beginning of the month it seemed west European buyers would not entirely succeed in persuading producers to pass on reduced feedstock costs, polymer prices proceeded to crumble throughout August, especially for polyolefins. At month's end, most PE producers were forced to pass on their entire accumulated cost relief of July and August. PP buyers managed to benefit at least from the lower August feedstock costs. Of the polyolefins, only EVA made considerable gains -on the back of tight VAM feedstock.
