摘要

Shale gas developments continue to set the tune for the future of global petrochemicals. In the last few weeks alone, a number of new developments have made the headlines worldwide, including the announcement by US oil and gas company Apache Corporation (Houston, Texas; www.apa-checorp.com) that it had discovered what it says could be one of the world's largest shale gas reserves. The group said test drills in a remote area in the northeast of British Columbia had uncovered a gas deposit of at least 48 trillion cubic feet (about 1.5 trillion m~3).
