At AISTech 2013 during the Pipe and Tube Committee session titled "Seamless Pipe", MST from South Lyon, Michigan reported a 63% reduction in specific fuel consumption in its rotary hearth billet-reheating furnace operation after they retrofitted the furnace with "flameless" REBOX oxyfuel technology from Linde North America. The REBOX technical solution allows for improved reheating capacity and the elimination of the need for heat from the walking beam furnace for larger diameter billets.
