摘要

The reaction of [Ru(tpy)Cl-3] (tpy=2,2':6',2 "-terpyridine) with qpy (qpy = 2,2':6',2 ":6 ",2''':6''',2''''-quinquepyridine) or substituted qpy ligands yields two species. One product is the [RuL(tpy)](2+) cation which contains hypodentate qpy ligands in which a terminal tpy domain is bonded to the metal and a non-coordinated bpy group is present. Detailed H-1 NMR studies on thee complexes and the model species [Ru(qtpy)(tpy)](2+) (qtpy = 2,2':6',2 ":6 ",2'''- quinquepyridine)confirm the formulation and reveal unusual conformational properties. The second complexes contain [(tpy)Ru(mu-L)Ru(tpy)Cl](3+) cations and the parent complex [(tpy)Ru(mu-qpy)Ru(tpy)Cl][PF6](3) has been structurally characterized. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
