Preparation of NEPE Polymeric Missiles Propellants and Effect of Particle Size in Mechanical Properties

摘要

Nitrate ester plasticized polyether (NEPE) is a new generation of composite solid propellants which its high energy content in comparing with conventional formulations, has attracted many researchers in the defence departments, all over the world. These composite propellant mixtures have been prepared using ammonium perchlorate, aluminium powder and polyether polymer binder polyethylene glycol (PEG) by varying the percentage of plasticizer and addition tow particle size of energetic filer HMX, and studied mechanical properties. The data on tow particle size of HMX indicate that particle size and ratio of the energetic filler affects the mechanical properties of the propellant. The modulus of elasticity is not dramatically as the particle size decreases and effects on tensile strength, modulus and elongation drastically.
