Currently, the poultry processing industry in Turkey is boosting its capacity while also undergoing technological modernisation, Placings of day-old broiler chicks on farms have risen from 145 million back in 1990 to 271m in 1995, while the estimatefor 1996 is 354m. The corresponding broilermeat output figures are 178,000t, 332,000t and 430,000t respectively. If production of culled layers, parents and turkeys is included, then the poultrymeaf output figure falls between 450,000t and 465,000t.
