Play your cards right - and win a healthy profit: Learning to become a successful negotiator requires some essential skills which will bring home the profit
Brushing up on your buying skills might seem more suited to the business and marketing industry rather than poultry farming, but negotiation is often vital in any successful business whether rural or corporate. "Haggling", as it's sometimes called, isnot just confined to the city worker. Producers are currently facing rising costs, such as chick prices (see page 4) that are set to escalate in the coming months due to doubling in the price of feed over the last year, so it is worth learning to negotiate with suppliers. Saving money when buy-ing-in feed, stock and energy could play a key role in achieving profit.
