MANY people keep betting that they are going to live another year or two, or 10. They put off estate planning. According to actuaries, those are very predictable statistics to be betting on. The older you are, of course, the poorer your odds. If you care how and to whom your estate will go — even if your estate isn't more than $2 million — you need to get around to doing proper planning. It seems that some people like betting on politicians, too. You may be laying odds for or against President Barack Obama for next fall. Maybe you are hoping for a big shift in Congress.
