RECORD or near-record flooding over a vast area of the Midwest in June, piled on top of an already wet spring and delayed planting, sent the commodity markets to new highs. Corn topped 7 dollar per bushel, and soybeans rose above 14 odllar per bushel. Yet Chris Hurt insists that while floods and wet soils may be what pushed prices to new highs, other factors set the stage for such dramatic price levels.
