NOBODY CARRIES A SEPARATE CAMERA anymore, and that makes sense. Smartphone cameras have gotten good enough that, in most instances, they take perfectly passable photos. And they can't be beat for convenience. But a smartphone will never be as good as a camera. It can't be. A quarter-inch slab of metal doesn't leave room for important features like lenses or large sensors - necessary things when you are shooting in less-than-ideal light or want to zoom in without hideous pixelation. The shots you want to get just right - the ones of your kids that you may want to one day appreciate on a screen larger than 2×5 inches - deserve to be taken on a real camera. Maybe one of these.
