Where plastics and paper packaging compete, plastics grow twice as fast. For "U.S. competitive plastic and papr packaging," the growth rate is 6.4%/yr for paper, 13.2%/yr for plastic, says a new study from Freedonia. From nearly equal 13 billion lb usages in 201, this will take paper use for this segment to 18.3billion lb in 2006, while plastic grows to 40.2 billion lb.
