In June 2011, the Spanish Basque Country Pharmacovigilance Unit issued a warning on the psychological adverse effects of montelukast, a leukotriene antagonist used in asthma (1,2). There were 461 reports of adverse effects attributed to montelukast in Spain up to June 2011, 145 of which (31.4%) involved psychiatric disorders.
