摘要

Breast-feeding is physiological. It is difficult to evaluate its effect in creating a mother-child bond. To examine the tangible advantages of breast-feeding for the infant, we reviewed the available literature using the standard Prescrire methodology. Many large studies have compared exclusive bottle-feeding and exclusive breast-feeding for at least 6 months in both rich and poor countries. Most were cohort or case-control studies, the results of which can be undermined by confounding factors. Despite these flaws, the results are consistent and the most robust studies make the conclusions fairly reliable.
