摘要

Barbershops represent a promising setting for reaching men and promoting health (Cowart et al., 2004; Magnus, 2004; Madigan et al., 2007; Releford et al., 2010; Victor et al., 2009). Hart and Bowen (2004) have discussed the feasibility of partnering with Black barbershops to provide prostate cancer education (Hart and Bowen, 2004). However, no published studies have attempted to assess shop owner preferences for learning and sharing general health information with their customers. This is the first population-based survey to assess owner preferences with a focus on differences between owners of Black and White barbershops. Results will be used to help plan for and design culturally and contextually appropriate barbershop-based interventions.
