Stellman SD. Book review of Concepts of Epidemiology (Preventive Medicine 2011; 53: 95). Authors would thrive in an imaginary world where reviews were prepared in advance to guide the writer. In the real world, however, reviews can greatly help with new editions. Stellman's diligent, thoughtful and relatively kind book review is one I will turn to thankfully when that time comes, but I will not necessarily accept all his suggestions. Like good critics, Stellman places the weaknesses in the book in the context of its strengths-and he finds many that in modesty I will not repeat, but I will comment on the identified weaknesses.
